As a Kingsville personal injury accident lawyer, I have compiled a list of things to do and not do if you are in any kind of accident.

                                                                                          THINGS TO DO:

DO get medical attention before you do anything else.

DO write down the names, addresses, email addresses and phone numbers of all witnesses.

DO call the police if necessary.

DO cooperate with all police, medical responders, and emergency personnel who respond to the scene.

DO get the license plate numbers of any cars involved in an accidents, as well as insurance information, names, addresses, and telephone numbers.

DO contact your health insurance, homeowner's insurance, and/or car insurance companies, if appropriate.

DO take photos as soon as possible after the accident. These photos should include:

       Your injuries.

The scene of the accident, from different angles.

       The surrounding area.

The product or thing which caused your injuries.

       All property damage.

DO listen, but do not argue or get mad, even if you are very angry. Anything you say or do may very well be admissible in Court.

DO contact your attorney.

                                                                                      THINGS NOT TO DO:

DON'T subject yourself to further accidents or injury by waiting in a traffic area or some other unsafe area.

DON’T give a recorded statement to an insurance company, their lawyers, or anyone else without consulting an attorney. These recorded statements are often designed to trick you.

DON’T give a signed, written statement to an insurance company, their lawyers, or anyone else without consulting an attorney. These signed, written recorded statements are often designed to trick you.

DON'T leave the accident scene until the police or emergency personnel tell you to.

DON'T throw away any evidence in the case, such as broken or defective products, or torn clothing.

DON'T discuss the fault of the accident with anyone.

DON’T apologize for anything because this can be used as evidence of fault.

DON'T agree to settlement terms without contacting your attorney.
